I have already stated that I propose going to New Zealand on retiring from the service.
I intended to visit Japan first and then Coventry, so I had not yet been to Coventry, and I suggested in my Despatch No. 24 of 31 January last that I might go there on leave until my pension is settled.
Nothing, however, as far as I know, has yet been settled beyond the principle on which my pension is to be calculated.
Under these circumstances, I fear that I may find myself compelled to go home before finally proceeding to New Zealand.
It was precisely with the view of obviating this unnecessary voyage that I made my application for leave to retire as far back as eight months ago.
